About Us
Best Credit Union
We have been voted the Voted Yolo County’s Best Credit Union since 2000, and we’re proud to continuously hold that title every year. It’s an honor to be voted the best and one of the reasons our community knows they can trust us for all their financial needs.
History
Yolo Federal was established in 1954 by a group of sheriff officers who got together to help pitch in and purchase the equipment needed for their colleagues. We have grown from a single branch serving a collective of people to the only financial institution exclusively serving Yolo County, with a branch in every major city in the county. Though we still follow our traditional values in providing local service, local doesn’t mean limited, and it’s safe to say we’re no longer that little credit union down the street. Check out our Discover Yolo Federal page to learn more.
Community Involvement
Our commitment is to our community. Every year, we average $70,000 in donations and 1,200 volunteer hours to local non-profits and organizations in our community. Learn more about our community involvement here.
Our Leaders
It takes a strong team of leaders to make effective business decisions so an organization can thrive. Yolo Federal is lucky to have just that. Get to know the individuals that make up our leadership team.

Fostering a Diverse Workplace
We firmly believe that having a diverse workforce fosters better ideas, is more creative, makes better decisions, gains competitive advantage, and overall strengthens our position in the financial industry. That’s why we have a committee dedicated to recruiting talented individuals that bolster an inclusive workplace. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, founded in 2020, meets to review the current environment, evaluate employee perspectives and opinions, and search for solutions to any concerns that may arise.

At Yolo Federal, we encourage our employees to grow their careers with us. Here are some of our Success Stories.
Cookie Weishahn-Kinser
Main Branch Manager
Cookie has been with Yolo Federal for 30 years. She started in 1992 as a teller and has held multiple positions over the years, including Account Services Representative, Branch Supervisor, and now Branch Manager. She got into Yolo FCU through her neighbor who used to babysit her, the then Vice President of Marketing, and told her how great it was to work here. When asked why Cookie loved to work at Yolo FCU, she said, “It’s a local organization that works to help people within our community.”
Judy Santillan
Loan Servicing Specialist
In her nearly 20 years with us, Judy has held several positions, including Call Center Representative and Collections Representative. Judy has a knack for being that helpful person our members can trust when they’re going through challenging times. The Collections Manager saw this opportunity and brought her to the Loan Servicing team because she loves helping people. She chose to join the Yolo FCU team because she heard it was a great place to work and that we serve our community, and she’s never looked back since!
Peter Playford
Branch Operations Supervisor
Peter was hired in 2019 as a Member Service Representative (teller), moved into the Card Dispute and Fraud Specialist role, and then was promoted to his current position as Branch Operations Supervisor at our Sycamore Pointe Branch in Woodland. Peter loves the employee culture at Yolo FCU. “It can be compared to a family,” he said. He loves his position because it’s challenging, but he learns so much daily from experience, training, and others on the job. “Yolo FCU invests directly into the career and personal growth of its employees and treats them better than any normal company.”
